No, there's no design difference but I do know that mintex is a good quality manufacturer. I don't know who manufactured the volvo shoes.

yep, a good dunk in a decarboniser cleaner bath then sandblasted, milled out using Snap On milling tools in an air driven drill @ 56,000rpm!!! Hot knife & butter springs to mind.

You want to try and prevent it from kicking down under throttle so Sport mode is no good.

Stick it in Winter mode so it starts in third and then lock it in 3 for the best results.
