The car engine has been running fine until I fired it up in Aldi car park earlier to be met with a rough idle, so I plugged in the code reader expecting 'Cylinder 1 misfire detected' (or something like that), and I got nothing. Ijnitially I thought I'd blown a coil pack but read on.....

On the way home I gave it a little welly expecting to see the emisssions warning light illuminate but it didn't and the car did seem to want to cut the boost at around 4000 - 5000rpm making me think there was a chance a Boost Pipe had come off . However when I got home, I plugged the code reader back in to the OBD2 port and got the following message which to be honest I really didn't want to see, I though FFS........ :cussing:

"P0121 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A" Circuit Range/Performance"

So I checked for loose wires and saw nothing so I think my ETM is more or less dead and buried. Could this have come at a worse time, right in the middle of a gearbox issue as well.

I've got 3 weeks until pay day so unless I can flog the M56 and clutch and the fuel pump, the repairs will have to wait until then. I'll see if I can get a Bosch unit from a breakers or failing that I'll have to look at another Magnetti unit.

If anyone disagrees with my diagnosis then I'm all ears.

Did an oil change today and replaced a split hose, as soon as I started driving afterwards it makes a terrible noise when boost creeps in.

Not too sure if it's turbo related or more to do with serpentine belt and one of the pulleys?????

After a wasted trip to London to see a rat trying to sell us an XC70 with a gushing oil leak (pretty sure it's the rear oil seal), we finally found this at a dealer in Peterborough. We are chuffed to bits and can wait to collect her Friday!

no boost leaks wastegate working and no vac leaks but lots of oil in the turbo and pipes so cleaned them all out, took it for a couple of runs no boost but lots of oil in the pipes again.

so im gessing the turbo is the cause of my oil leak and it also has a little play in the compreser wheel.
Also i think the BCV isn't working so that would explain the lack of boost. i took the vac line off the wastegate and it boosted all the way, and put it back.
unplugged the BCV and nothing changed no boost so from what ive read that should mean its faulty.

Well it would seem that when I had the car serviced the mechanic or some random dildo hadn't bothered to tighten the new filter properly and all the oil escaped via the seal. Luckily no damage and the underside is now nice and greasy. Lesson learnt, I will now do it myself.
