i think bio diesel is when you basically run on chip fat mate. you can DIY it, but obviously the govt wont be too happy and they do require you to pay a tax on this, but a lot cheaper than derv. ive never seen it at the pumps, but cant see why it wouldnt be though, so the truck driver was probably telling the truth

You can buy bio diesel in York, but it is not much cheaper than proper pump stuff!! Normal diesel is selling for about 98p per litre and bio (at a farm!!) is about 80p per litre!
My Dad used in his 2003 Citroen C5 HDI and it clogged his injectors and fuel filter in 3 months, even though he used normal pump fule every other fill up.
In my opinion, it is a false economy on newer cars as the performance was not as good with bio fuel and the potential damage to your car is not worth 20p per litre!!
It would work on older non-turbo cars I guess!

biodiesel is available at the pumps and is vegetable oil based, but with other 'stuff' added to get round the viscosity issues of running with SVO (Straight Vegetable oil) and to aid starting which is a problem when running svo without preheaters in the pump and tank. As for biodiesel being 50% cheaper... not a chance! from what i have seen where its available its often more expensive than diesel with outlets playing on the green aspect. Here are some useful links for ya

And dont forget to pay your excise duty on the fuel ;)

theres bio diesel and bio fuel. you can run on bio diesel with no problems whatsoever. fuel companys do buy it from the small companys who make it. there is a lot of info on google about it. as for blocking up injectoprs ect. the oil has not been properly processed. otherwise it would be still running on it.
