Hi Guys, I have had my T5,Auto estate for a couple of weeks now, I would like to ask everyone how many miles do they get from a FULL tank of fuel? when I fill mine up, I do well to put 60 litres in it, the computer only ever say's 325 miles to empty, and the fuel gauge says full is 70 litres?????. it seems that after 100 miles its nrarly onlt showing above half!!!.
Would like to say the car runs ok and it was a 1 owner full volvo service history example, oh...and its not been chipped. so far I am doing well to get 300 miles till its empty again, and thats not mad, fast driving.

"300 miles till its empty again"

ahh, we can only wish - I get 240 odd miles to a tank.

How many miles has the car got on the clock ?

Hi Saff, The car has done 135K, The reason I asked, last week I read that someone was getting 27 to the gallon, I never took much notice, but someone did say that if you have your car chipped and remapped, not only does it improve performance but the fuel consumption gets better aswell, only if you drive it normal thou.

I think I was getting a little over 350 miles to a tank from my manual 850. It might be worth doing a stage 0 tune and see if that helps?

Have a troll through the forum mate as this subjects been talked about loads

People are getting between 20 and 27 average mpg

Personally mine averages 21, MrsMopp gets around 27

Auto's will never get as much as a manual and its all to do with driving style

If I'm doing a motorway trip in my 180k manual T5 I can *just* scrape 30 average on the trip computer if i reset it at the start of the motorway; otherwise the average over 1000 miles is usually 25mpg and that includes mostly 'spirited' driving down country roads and being stuck in town-centre traffic.

I think the most off putting thing is the gauge moves so quickly off of full, its like 50 miles and its on 3/4's, My cosworth was 280 bhp but I drove it mad, so I expected it. in the volvo I have tried driving to get better consumption but still not that brilliant,

Yes the gauge on mine is not that accurate, but this has been the same on all the cars I've had.
I have just returned to the UK from Ukraine, about 1200miles of varied, but mostly c.100mph, speeds. I averaged 21mpg according to the computer and 23 according to receipts etc. This is 2 up with dog and full of luggage.
On the way out to Ukraine last year I got about 20mpg, but this was with a roof box. And it only took 2 days! So not too bad.
I'm going back shortly with a Rover 214, I expect this to take a bit longer but maybe with better mpg. As long as I don't break down too often. Mind you this would do wonders for the mpg figure, as it won't use much on the back of a truck!

Im getting roughly around 270 miles to a full tank and I haven't even got one of those petrol guzzling turbos!! (C70 2.4) :(

Is it possible to get the engine tuned to make sure its taking the right amount of go go juice? I heard you can but i thought its all completely controlled by the ECU so you cant do anything?

To / From work (local) and driving around town etc (+ wasting the odd boy racer every now ad then! :sinner: ) = 220 miles per tank
Motorway Driving = 300 miles per tank :B_blite:

If you're tuning just for economy, it'll take an awful lot of fills at the improved rate to pay for the tuning. And remember, you're more likely to unleash the beast, using even more petrol. Normal driving, consumption's better; spirited driving, consumption's worse because there's more spirit!!

My auto used to do around 250-270 miles / tank with RICA 304 and 90k on the clock. I think you are doing well to get 300 miles !

C70 T5 Manual with RICA was getting about 250 - 300 miles with average moderate driving most of the time (ish). In my new Volvo I get 600 :-) although the rate diesel is going up probably soon work out about the same as burning twice as much petrol.

About the same As Wobbly. Best I've done is 365 most of that whilst tired, bored and driving back from Loch Long in the rain.

P1 V70 Manual though, not strictly an 850.

I was getting 350 to a tank - 50 Squid in my T5 and that was mad driving and also conservative driving.

But now its more nearer 300 for some strange reason even though jungle juice has gone up.
