Hi guys,

Anyone ever removed the in dash cupholder from a V70 2001 model.

I want to remove it as the springs that alter the diameter are broken and volvo tell me this always happens and use the space instead for a permanent home for my sat nav and a simple arm to hang my travel cups from.

Guy from a volvo garage told me you have to take all the dash off to get the cupholder out which sounds like a big job with all the potential to break everything in sight.

Any advice great; gone to have a look with a screwdriver.

It's integrated in the audio unit fascia adaptor plate, right?
If you have the type of audio unit that just slides out, you can then just reach inside and undo the torx bolts that hold the fascia adaptor in place.

If not then you need to access the fascia adaptor from below:
1) Pull off the pen holder to reveal torx bolts.
2) Undo the bolts holding the heater controls and pull it out. Don't disconnect any cables or it'll store warnings. If you need to disconnect cables, disconnect the battery first.
3) Reach up and undo fascia adaptor.

Cheers breezy

Had a look at the whole thing in situ and measured up the sat nav unit and the potential hole, all looks ok.

Currently making up a plate and surround with the cradle and all power connections i need to wire up so when I take the cup holder out I have something to put back rather than just a good idea....

Taking some pics and will post them once some progress is made.
