I need to buy 4 new tyres, fronts are knackered & rears have gone bald right on the inner edge of the tyre, the rears were on the car when i bought it 2yrs ago so not to bad & the fronts have lasted about 12k.

215/40/17 seem a bit cheaper and more choice, anybody here run that size 7 do you have any problems with rubbing ? I'm sure my 205/45/17 just touch the arch liners on full lock coming off the drive, i'm worried if i get 215's it will be too wide. Do they look alright on Volans or do 215's look too wide for the rim ?

What J rim are the 17 inch Volans, they look like 6.5 or 7j.

Thanks Simon.

Did it tramline with 215's , my 850 doesn't suffer with any tramlining with 205's, i'm sure it won't make any difference going 10mm wider but i thought i'd ask.

Oh & by the way i will definately make the effort to come to a gathering sometime this year to meet up with you guys again.

Thanks Simon.

Nope no tramlining, it was more secure to the road with the 215's and I had better traction!

Look forward to seeing you soon then ;)

215/40s are fine on my V70R! Ive never heard of this width beind an issue - its going to 18 that the rubbin starts.

Good luck!

i believe 215 is the correct profile anyway.

215 is not a profile its a width ! & no it is not the factory spec for a 850R, 205/45/17 is what the 850R & T5R were fitted with from new.

Thanks for the replies, looks like 215/40 or 215/45 will be ok.

Simon.
