View Full Version : My naughty secret

I wasnt gonna make a big song and dance about her. Trust me when I say she is a real corker. I have had her a week now and I am immensely enjoying the T5 experience again.

She is a late 99 V reg C70 manual - with 55K on the clock. Doesnt have all the toys but she makes up for that in sheer grunt. the ME7 is a real gem on it. I do have the good stereo and the nice BBS rims - but sadly no heated seats or trip. Bodywork is in excellent condition.

I only have a couple of photos - and yes for the eagle eyed the NS headlight wiper is foobared (now fixed).

Got a decent deal for her from a main Vauxhall dealership in Wrexham including decent part chop for the dis-Astra. I got 12 month MOT, a good RAC warranty and 6 months tax. Nice peeps/Good to do business without stressing about if they were dodgy or not. Co-incidentally they also showed me the new folding hardtop astra (a week before the launch)

After 3 or more years of hunting for decent T5 insurance - you'll all be glad to know I have fully comp on this baby.

She drives like a dream and I am very happy. Thanks again to all that looked out for me during the last few months.

Funny having V70 as the first few digits of your plate!!!!Even more bizarre - this is the second time it has happened.

The black one was V70 4 FRE (V70 for free)

I havent had anything done tuning wise. I stuck my old fly ridden ITG back in and put a strut brace on.

Reason I was at VT was to sort out some ABS things.

Very nice looking car Dave. In fact it's so nice looking I recommend you keep the keys out of THE COLLECTOR's sight!

Have to say that the A5 is one of the best roads to drive home on in yer new motor. Engine is very keen. Ride is fab and the brakes are not too bad either.

She will be lowered soon enough. Just toying with replacing the dampers (there is nothing wrong with them) whilst the springs are out.

Hi Dave we are so glad you are back into a T5 car ownership again, and this time you are doing it properly ;) hehe,
Lovley colour and are those wheels the rarer 17s and not the 18s?

Welcome back in to the club :)Do you have those mats? (one thing that was missing :slap: )

Cheers to all for the thumbs up. The 17" rims are very nice (busy alloys always look good on the coupe)
The modifications will be subtle but important ;)
Just really enjoying the T5 thing again - coz I can legitimately bitch about petrol prices again.

All 4 wheels are staying on the ground

Jaseb77
Friday 14th April 2006, 12:06
Dave, are you BBs rims 17" on your new C70

as I have some spares in the Garage if you need any replacements

3 goods wheels, one wobbly bolts one

although they are in scotland !

Wobbly Dave
Friday 14th April 2006, 12:19
Yep - they're 17's - the ones that are on there are all in VGC - so I am ok in that respect. Might contemplate a single (as a spare) - but I guess you wouldnt wish to split the set?

Jaseb77
Friday 14th April 2006, 12:23
They are only taking up space in my shed at the moment,

and nobody seems to want them. so getting shot of single would be Ok

I may keep two as spares to swop if needed for my 18" to get them refurbed

Dave, of topic but what's happened to the squadron mate why back to SM ?
Idea is that my flying days are now over. Old car is finally scrapped - New car is starting out. Drawing a line under it and move on.

Engineer
Sunday 16th April 2006, 17:24
Make you right Dave, so next question what you got planned for the new wheels? No more secrets lol.

Wobbly Dave
Sunday 16th April 2006, 17:29
On a silver car I am not sure - I think the original grill looks fine, but if I turn up at meeting and could tryout the egg-box grill then I might be tempted to change it. I have some plans with the engine but I am keeping that quiet.

Engineer
Sunday 16th April 2006, 17:37
Fair enough on the engine front lol, agree the standard grill looks ok in silver but don't you like those clear lights? Do fancy those myself but just so expensive.......

Wobbly Dave
Sunday 16th April 2006, 17:40
I am happy with my wheels - they stop the car dragging on the ground. Cosmetics will be bottom of the list.

Engineer
Sunday 16th April 2006, 17:49
Get your point about cosmetics and wheels agree, but would love to see an R bumper on the front of a Coupe, especially in silver. MHO only.

Wobbly Dave
Sunday 16th April 2006, 17:54
R bumper for the S70 is a different shape? isnt it kinda more square than the one on the coupe? Plus the front fogs are round on the C70.

Engineer
Sunday 16th April 2006, 18:01
Yeh see previous pic, don't you think it would look mean on the front of a silver coupe? Need someome with photo whatsit to play with a picture.
