Interesing to see there are so many well informed people.

I have an ex police 2000 T5 Estate that I have also converted to run on LPG. Runs very similer on gas as on petrol and have had no problems. NB. I did the conversion myself.

I also owned a 1998 T5 that seemed a lot quicker so am wondering if there is something amis with this one.

Thanks,

David.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! I assume you have a V/S series and thus you dont have a boost gague. Perhaps the best way to find out how your T5 is performing is to hook a boost gague up. What sort of milage has your ex plod done? If your not holding boost it could be anything from an airleak to a tired turbo......

Anyway, glad you managed to find us! I think your the first lpg conversion we have!! Was is easy enough to do?

Not wishing to cast aspersions on your mechanical know how - but when I was posting about the boost gauge - I didnt know about the LPG.

I have heard from a good source that LPG is about the best way known to man to cook your T5 engine. The LPG converted runs a load hotter than normal. So be careful. I think to try to LPG an old Volvo is fine - but the T5 will not thank you for it.

Hi,

The car has done 151000 and still runs sweet. The auto box is a beut though having the fly by wire makes me a bit nervious. I was thinking of putting some big red stripes down the sides to see if I could improve mt speed through traffic. The police took all the blue lights off though :(

I have taken on board the comments about the overheating and will monitor very carefully.

One of the things that the software does is to monitor the inlet manufold pressure, (on account of the hole I drilled in it) through a sensor. This a quite a good gauge as it has to be acurate..

As for running costs, I filled up @ 32.9 a litre last night. Had to look twice as it seemed really too cheap.

Is there a Volvo gauge I can buy anyone.

Hmmph. 86.9 per litre for optimax. Oh well I am gonna be permanently skint - as well as fast.

I can beat that, I paid 1.05 !!!!!!!!!!!!! a litre down my local, was Elf, had to get some, didn't realise how dam expensive that frnech stuff is.... needless to say I won't be buying any more of that!!

As you say, Optimax is a little cheaper than BP, just don't get Nectar!!! :sinner:

As for boost gauges, Friend of mine bought an Apex Performance gauge, retails at £55, nice gauge, looks nice, and performs well.

Wos thinking of Gassing mine too, to cut fuel bills, but after reading all the horror stories I might just live with exspensive fill ups....
