I can't get my Knob off!!!!!

Hi all,

I'm really sorry if this is somewhere else in the forum, I'm always being told I should look harder!!!

How on gods earth do you remove the gear knob from an '95' 850 T5, I have bought a new gear gaiter assembly and removed almost all of the old setup, bar the gear knob and finishing colette. I have a Haynes manual and have been scratchin my bonce over this one for a couple o hours now but just cannot remove the damn thing! I think I'm probably being very stoopid about this (nothing new there) but I aint too proud to ask for help.

Please someone help me before I take a hacksaw to the selector shaft and regret my actions for ever :o
