My car has broke down

My car has just broke down.
hello my name is pac i drive a Volvo V40 T4 which i was driving home from work when i was half way overtaking a lorry the engine started to splutter and then cut out . My car is now stuck on the side of a busy main road .Can anybody help me as to what could have gone wrong with it ? thanks

Stoopit 1 first, petrol? Plugs, Dizzy, rotor arm, HT leads, Timing belt?

It could be 1 of loads of things, did you get any dash lights prior?
