£175.....the new rates are only applicable to vehicles first registered post March 2001.

you think £175 a year is bad in ireland its around 800 euros a year for a t5 i get it for 62euros a year because its a taxi

A T5 Taxi ? Are you mad , just aswell you get TAX cheaper then as your MPG aint great ...shudder to think what a T5 Taxi after midnight for 15 miles would cost to make your T5 a viable taxi!!!LOLOLOLOL

And the new top gas-guzzler rate is only applicable to cars first registered yesterday, 23 March 2006. Existing cars are not effected.

Good job too as it doesn't just affect 4 X 4's - Just about any petrol car over 2.0 litre is likely to fall into this Band.

I believe a Sensible (ish) 2.0 Renault Espace driver will now be paying the same as a 4.8i V8 BMW X5.

I bet the people in their really big CO2 polluters are really quaking in their boots - NOT !!

I believe the X5 chucks out about 70% more CO2 than the Renault so that's all fair then isn't it?
