Hi,

Does anybody know if 225/50/16 tyres will fit on a Classic V70 without rubbing?
I'm of the understanding that standard rubber for the 16" wheels is 205/50/16. 225 width tyres were fitted as standard to the c70 though!!

I'd be interested in your thoughts!!

Cheers

Hi. I cant tell you for sure if 225/50/16 will rub or not, but what i can tell you is that if you change from 205/50/16 to 225's, the overall diameter of the tyre&wheel will increase by 20mm or 3.27%. Its recommended that +/- 2.5% difference is allowed.
However, if you were to go to 225/45/16's, the difference will only be -2mm or 0.33% which is much more inline with your original diameter. (taking into account tyre wear etc). Hope this is of some help.

I asked this a while back and was told the fronts would rub on full lock and not to go above 215/50/16. As I could get away with 2 tyres, stayed with 205s but will have another think next time when all 4 required.
