A trip to Birmingham yesterday was about the furthest I have driven our Volvo since we've owned it. I noticed that it revs quite high when cruising (nearly 3000 rpm at the national limit and possibly a little more !) and was wondering if there is any benifit from fitting the box off a 2.5 as I assume they are higher geared. I know it will take the edge off a little but surely it will improve comfort and economy ? Anyone running a different box on theirs ?

The manual M66 box found on the S60R/V70R has 6 gears, there are 1 or 2 850s in the world with this gearbox, if you could find one then you would definately have an even better cruiser than you already have :)

in top gear my s60r(m66), sits at about 2500rpm at 70mph, so helps mpg i think
