Hi all,
Just want to let you know that we have a new installation centre on the Surrey / Sussex / Kent border near Gatwick, so if anyone is down near the south coast or Kent area, then you now have something a little closer! :)
While-you-wait service is only availble for the 1999 and later models (excluding S/V40 classic).
Adam.

I live in essex so it's really close, yipee!
But my car was built in 1994 boo!
What's with not looking at cars pre 1999? :wtf:

Because 1999 and later is done via OBDII.

only the 99 onwards cars are truly OBDII compliant, so no.

Tuesday 28th February 2006, 19:37
Basically only the 1999 and later models are fully OBDII compliant (as Justin says), and therefore our OBDII programming system only works with 1999 and later models. Note that the S80 1998 models are still classed as 1999 spec and therefore are also included, as are all other ME7 late 1998 models.

If it has a blue badge on the grill, it's fully OBDII compliant, which means it will have ME7 ECU and electronic throttle.

Early cars would either have to come to us for the while-you-wait service, or you could do it at this place but would take about 3 days.

Question :
Other than a blue badge, how can you tell if you have an ME7 engine
are late 98 model 240HP C70 ME7 ?,
as apposed to 225HP S70 T5's
are there tell-tale signs under the hood ?

850 T5's were 225bhp T5R + R were 240bhp
All S/V/C70 T5's were 240bhp, R's were 250bhp in manual form
If you have a throttle cable its pre ME7, If you dont have a throttle cable it is ME7

Look under the bonnet - they'll be no throttle body and cable :)

Ask for Peter Suchy, he's very straight talking (!!)
They've replaced the engine on my previous 850 T5, are Volvo specialists and do other performance tuning also. They aren't a "performance workshop" though, and cater largely for the older Volvos. His own personal car is a 900 series diesel with nearly 700k on the clock (possibly more now)
I'm sure they can do anything they're asked of, though.
Be prepared to leave your car for a while, they're in the middle of nowhere and often forget to phone you to let you know the car is done!

From looking on your website you have a branch who RICA in yorkshire (which isn't too far for me to travel).
Do you have any further details as I couldn't find any.
Thanks

They've catered for the new stuff for a while, there is a very nice yellow T5-R estate which frequents that workshop which is chipped but I don't recall whom by, possibly BSR, his workshop seems very popular with the 240's and 740's judging by the cars parked in the garage ;)

When I say newer stuff, I mean like the phase 2 cars like D5. I know they cater for all sorts of stuff. I was jokingly replying to your message about the older cars.
