Hi all,

I've saw a V70 which has been standing since november, but for no other reason than the owner got given a new car cheaply from relatives and decided not to use the V70 and tried to hand onto it until her indoors forced him to sell.

I don't think there be any pros, but what are the cons?

I'm viewing 2moro and it hasn't been started in a while so it'll be flat.

Once up and running will he be bunged up? Shall i just run and leave it?

If its not been started at all since then could cause problems.

Get it started and leave it for a while to avoid damage and see what happens with it, if it sounds o.k then take it for a run and see if any problems surface when driving.

Well this one is in sedgefield so its not too far to travel if it turns out to be a dog.

Did consider C70 but then went off the idea as i've already got one impractical car!

If its been stood since last year I would take the coil lead off first and just spin the engine over on the starter, get some oil moving around the engine before you actualy start it. Then put your lead back on and start it up. As long as you take this precaution you shouldnt have any problems..

Well viewed her today and shes a beaut.

Has been standing like I said bet he had kept ticking it over now and then.

The reason he's hung onto it so long is because its NOT insured :O and has no tax and MOT so was finding it hard to tax it.

Ne way... its a 1999 V ME7 so its got the more updated engine.
Its just had its cambelt replaced with the last service.

He's getting it MOT'd on monday so its just the tax we need to sort.

Once i've had a drive of it I may well buy it... i wanna see if anything is goosed before parting with the cash.

Managed to knocked him down too which is good.

One thing that stuck in my mind is this.... We had just jump it from his Saab, which is expected due to it standing. The car was running for 15minutes or so and i turned it off.... it would NOT start again :(

Is this a duff battery or worse? Or simply because the car hasn't been ran.

Anyway, i had good vibes about it and we shall see... :D

I wouldn't expect the battery to charge up from 15 minutes of idling. Give it a chance! Then even if it does turn out to be dead, put another battery on it, job done!

The battery will be knackered, Just replace it and save yourself the grief ;)

Cheers fellas.

I don't mind spending on her at all ... just major stuff wanna avoid (like anyone).

No leaks or knocks which is a good thing
