hi all i have a t5-r. been great uptill other day, took her for short journey, was fine, (about 1 mile) on way back loss of power foot down but real struggle. got home switched off. next day wanted to move car out of way bit rough when started a bit shakey. switched off. left a couple of days. started again and i thought the engine was gonna fall out it is shaking and coughing there is no power when you try and put your foot down. i switched off. i havent took her for a drive and i havent let her sit in her very poor state. im worried. she really is very poorly. i have not had ANY engine warning lights come up at any time. so no idea. mmm anyone have any thoughts? thanks in advance from me and my :pants:

thanks to you all the car is running again as she should be. she really was missing so much i thought she had slipped a tooth. turns out the sparky`s were as black as the ace of spades and were not changed on the service when they should have been. what a relief, hooray for having a tough old volvo, thanks again for your help.

Spark plugs, HT leads or maybe the dizzy cap/rotor arm worth checking first.

Could be head gasket if its missing, check for water in oil !by removing oill cap and having a look in side cap also check water levels and see if theres any oil mixing going on there !!if that doesnt show any signs get her running and see if shes building up to much pressure in the water system(easiest way to tell if the headgaskets on its way out)
as most other electrical problems would have put the ecu light on i would have thought, but it hard to fault find over the net, your best taking it to a local garage for a check out first as last

Have you ever had any engine warning lights at any time ? If not check the bulb is there.... sorry but some people have been known to pull these out.

Check Stage 0 stuff - do a search on here.

Stick your head under the bonnet - check for major pipe splits - especially in air intake system.

Check you engine mounts - make sure non of them have split of come loose.

If you can check for codes via a friend with a code reader or a dealer.

Get it checked out before you turn it over again....
has the cambelt jumped a tooth...?
Take the cambelt cover off and check the belt all over for missing teeth.
Don't start it again if this has happend!!!!!!!

Once this has been checked then proceed on to other checks ....

I'm certainly hoping I'm wrong....but for the engine to be jumping around the place, something has got to have moved...

thanks to you all. im no mechanic so did as im told. after looking at all your adviserys it turns out that the plugs were shot. cap and dizzy excellent, no missing teeth, no loss of oil and water. thanks again to everyone you have all been my saviour. car is running as she should. am off to kill the service department as those little sparkplugs should have been changed during my service. everything else looks new but the sparky`s were definately worn out. thanks again i worship you all :worship:

Phew....!!!! I take it the engine jumping around was just a little vibration with a bit of panic exaggeration.......(just a misfire)....
