I need to confirm that the car i have just put a deposit on is what it is supposed to be; :doh: - is there any coding on the vin that defines model etc??

I need to confirm that this car is a 97 S70R - all seems good apart from the front bumper (big thanks to Franz13 for noticing!!).

If its not a 'R' then im walking... it's gotta be an R!

Im sure it is an R mate, everything else looks right

Mibees innocent and the original owner didnt want the big "in your face" bumper or even its been in a wee bump and thats why its got a different one

I wouldnt worry about it but for your own ease get the info you need

yeah under the bonnet there was no sign of new panels etc... still gotta check it out!

BTW where you get that grill from in the pic? buy it or mod yrslf?

I bought it from Grumpybob on here, think its a Parts for Volvo's online grill >>>CLICK HERE 4 WEBSITE<<< (http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/default.php?cPath=29_362) Probs the same as you have apart from yours is black where mine is chrome. I had to chop the slash a bit to make it fit but I think a S40 slash fits

Most popular grill these days is the "egg crate grill"

Seller just called me from Reading Volvo - the guy was there first thing this morning and has got them to verify the car and print out their findings.

Just raises the question why someone would change? maybe orderd it like that?? Will we ever know... :shifty:

The R spoiler is a bit more in your face, and maybe somone just preferred the standard T5 spoiler!

with the wrong one!

i mean its not like they are much different.......

Yeah you got to be careful with this. It lists mine as V70 20V but the VIN confirms it's a R thanks to Adam for giving me the details.

P/N 3542252 £245.91 + vat not painted. that is just for the lower lip. not full bumper on the S/V70's,
