Not sure if anyone would be remotely interested but....

Those who know what the engine is don't need any introduction, but for the others this is the full alloy 1900cc 16valve engine fitted to the early 405 Mi16.

Not to be confused with the later 150-155 bhp 2 litre heavy cast block, this engine makes the 405 quicker than a 205 Gti, and makes a 205/309 Gti VERY rapid.

I had one of these in my old track 309 which ran a 14.5 second SQM with no other mods than a light skim to the head to raise compression.

A lot of people bodge the conversion on a dizzy adaptor using 8valve management, but this is the whole lot to convert a 205/309 - the engine, loom, ECU, AFM, igntion amp, dizzy, leads etc.

Most re-angle the exhaust manifold but I can put you in contact with QEP who make a re-angling spacer plate to avoid cutting and welding (resulting in cracking usually!) and make the conversion even easier.

The loom can be spliced into the standard Gti loom simply by connecting 6 wires and if needed can put you in touch with various people who can combine the 8 and 16valve looms to make it plug and play - DES Developments, Pug Racing etc.

The engine has covered 98k miles (recently rebuild a friends at 180k which was fine aside from light smoke!) and it does not smoke, use oil, use water and running temperature is very stable - it feels very strong and runs smoothly.

Only reason for sale is that unfortunately the 405 it belongs to is going to cost more to restore than its worth.

I am after £400 collected for the whole lot and am based in Essex.

Buyer must be able to help me remove the engine and bear all costs of taking the engine away.

I also have all other bits from the car - fuel tank/pump, leather interior, panels (although all drivers side damaged bar front wing).

Thanks for reading :)
