Had mine today and of course it passed with flying colours....no advisories and I have spent bugger all on it since VT did their magic on it (emissions...my car sucks em out of the atmosphere instead of putting them in it!!!)
I had a NA 850 before (wife crashed it) which never failed the MOT either....
What has yours failed the MOT on? (if ever?)

Rear seatbelts jammed. Trust me, its easier to kill yourself than to fix them :slap: And the O/S bottom ball joint was shot to hell.

Old 850 2l 20v

Failed - O/S CV Boot - Replaced myself then passed. Noticed the day it passed that a rear light had blown.

Old 850 T5

Failed - Rear brakes scored and corroded (I knew that but thought I'd see if she got through anyway). Replaced myself then passed.

Current V70 T5

Failed - Steering rack worn to excess. I was told whole rack needed replacing. Specialist replaced the N/S steering rack end and it passed. Two weeks later started to feel a bit of play in the N/S wheel again. I don't know what's causing the play but am going tom investigate when I get the time and money.

Mine had its only failure in its life last year when the damn ABS module packed up

Good oll "wobbly dave" fixed it

The only other thing was the rear exhaust hangers which had rusted off replaced with an aftermarket bolt on unit before it had the MOT and it flew through it`s retest as the chap just rechecked the ABS warning light on the dash it went out and hey presto

I didn't think it could fail on defective ABS as long as braking efficiency meets the requirement.

Would that be the Optiplop then Lance?

CV boots - I'd replace sooner rather than later otherwise you'll end up with grease filling your wheel arches and dodgy joints if they go unnoticed.

Now might be the time to get a stainless performance exhaust : ) .

mine failed on it last year, the light stayed on..... they couldn't give a toss if it's working or not. the light is the issue...

unless it's wired to the oil light which indicates that there is a fault and the light then goes out, tester writes pass certificate.... bye, bye ;-)

"unless it's wired to the oil light"

Tell me more - just in case my ABS/TRACS is intermittent and I may have the MOT looming. Rest assured, I am planning on getting it "Wobbled".

Mine just failed on both the front flexible brake hoses being perished and cracked. Ended up having to hack-saw the brake unions off as the threads had seized. A common problem apparently as the connection contains two different metals or something. Not a job I would recommend to anyone as the solid pipe had to be bent and re-flared before attaching the new hoses - all with brake fluid running down your sleeve. They should last another 10 years though so glad it's out of the way. Can't believe no one else has had these fail as I was told they only really have a life of about 10 years?

I replaced the flexi's on mine a while ago because they were showing signs of cracking. Upgraded to stainless which were actually cheaper than a set of rubber ones. The rear ones are a pig ! Especially the one that fits into the plastic bracket on top of one of the rear arms (the bracket of course snaps off !)
