What is the differance in engines between a T5 and a T5R, i am looking at a T5R which has had a T5 engine fitted from an S70 T5. What will the spec be for that in comparison please.

The engine is the same block, but it will have a stronger bottom end. Unless the downpipe/cat has been replaced you'll have the same turbo (15G).
Basically, same engine but better (cos its stronger), no other differences AFAIK.
PS... I (well; my mechanic) put an S70R engine into a '95 850 T5 also.

The B5234T4 (Euro-spec manual 850R) has different (stronger) bearings on the bottom end than the B5234T5 (T5R/ auto 850R) or the B5234FT (T5), but the rotating assemblies are the same.

That is how I understand it also, although the standard 850 T5 is B5234T here :) Whats the "F" stand for?

So basically with a T5 engine fitted to a T5R car with 5R turbo and ecu there wont be a problem. I would assume that with T5's running remapped at 280bhp easily that the T5 engine should run ok at 240bhp with the R ecu and turbo. Forgive me being a bit dense but i am new to Volvo's :slap:
