Who knows of a decent independant on Tyneside (preferably south of the water)?, my S60 is rather in need of a service and I don't really fancy having to pay main stealer prices.

Choices are limited in the NE unless you want to use Mills :troutslap
1. Volmec (based near Thornaby) - have never been but hear good things.
2. Scotts Bank Motors (Sunderland) - he's an ex Volvo technician and seems to know his stuff. Back street garage set-up. No problems when I took my C70 there...
3. AutoFix "Shiremoor - North Tyneside" - took mine there once but I don't think they fixed what I asked them to and it cost a lot. Others have had better results though. Ask k1ngy.
Sure there are more, do a search for Tyneside / Sunderland / Durham.
Hope this helps :)

Meh, I took mine in because the front of the car was groaning. I asked them to check the steering stops. Wne back several hours later and they had replaced the front rods at a bigger cost than I was expecting.
Car was still groaning on the way home. Got the stops greased when I was at VT and they haven't groaned since.
In addition the guy stated they had just relocated when I visited, I paid for the work and he said he would send me the receipt etc because he couldn't do it at the time. It never arrived.
Still that may be a one off, like I said I've heard others say they are good...

Yes, they started up on their own not too long ago & I think it was a bit hard at first for them, they are doing well and it seems like they are doing good.

Theres nowt wrong with Mill Garages, they have to be the most helpfull and knowledgeable Main Dealers I've ever came across in the north east. The only down side is you need a PHAT wallet for any work you want them to do.
I'm booked in at Scotts Bank next week for a wee bit of work that needs doing and for the price they've quoted, its not even worth me getting my hands dirty!!!!
I'll keep you all posted when its done

Well got the motor back from scotts bank this afternoon.... took a little bit longer than expected but only due to spares availability and lets face it, 480 turbines aint exactly the most common of vehicles on the roads these days!
Paul and the other guys seem to know their stuff and if this clutch beds in ok and stops juddering i'll be over the moon. Couldnt beat them on price either :jaw:
