Just run a trade HPI check on my car  .

Only did it for the hell of it, bored and nothing else to do.

Anyhows, anyone wanna hazard a guess what values were shown for Retail Value and Trade In value according to CAP and Glass's?

My car:

1999 V, V70 T5. 100,000 miles. Climate, electric sunroof, 3 child booster cushions in rear seat. Full Service History, mainly Volvo with exception of independent specialist last service.

So, what were the values returned?

£7,095 Retail :jaw:

£4,295 Trade in :jaw:

a) That trade value is well high! Never in a million years would I pay £7,000 for my car. I love her to bits but £7,000! Not a chance - there are others out there for less.

b) £4,295 trade! I didn't know what to expect but a trade in value £2,800 less than the retail value! Crikey! Even with costs added on that's some profit!

That's a good price but R's are going for less than yours, not to rub it in of course, but the market for selling is very weak,

Gary

So why is everyone wanting to sell all of a sudden? lol.

I know Gary, exactly the point I'm making - there's no way those figures are correct.

Mind you, I guess retail prices are always higher than private prices.

It's the cheek of the trade in values that gets me.

As you say, the market is shocking at the moment.

are you not confusing the TRADe value with the trad in value???

the Trade value in glasses etc is what you would expect to pay at auction as a trader not a trade in value
the trade in valus would be higher ???

or have i got it wrong since i last looked at a glasses guide

Dude, you're probably right there. Am I an arse or what!

Ahhh, hang on, surely a trader would aim to pay the same for a trade in as for an auction purchase - or am I talking rubbish there?

Even still, I eckon you're right as to what the trade value means.

no a trader will pay around the retail price (or so you think) or just under on the trade in bearing in mind if he has bought the car at auction he still has over £2k to play with so it is split over the 2 cars and he has yours to sell lol

Unfortunately now back in the real world...... :slap:

Book values can say what they like, no good if everyone else is asking lower though.
