Has my 850 been putting on weight?

Just out of interest I spotted the other day on my VIN plate that the cars weight is 1970kg, surely that’s not the gross weight?!?! Is that possibly the maximum permissible weight?

yeah my car is the same, really high wt fig on vin, must be maxium wt allowed

Yes, max. weight (mine's 2020KG) Kerb weight about 1475Kg. I think. Don't know why yours is less; mine's a '96 Auto Estate.

mines around the 1900kg mark aswell, although parkers says 1400 or so. Surley can't be the difference in wheight in different models

It's the maximum permissible weight or gross weight the vehicle, so not the actual weight but how heavy it can be before it becomes overloaded. I think! So the actual weight will be around 1400-1500kg.
