Firstly, I'd love to say that this forum is great and I can't thank everyone enough for their help so far.

Secondly, I have noticed this section before and have thought about posting a few suggestions prior to now but having negotiated my way around the site, I've not really seen anything similar to these suggestions so i thought I'd post them up. Could i posssibly suggest the following sections?

1) Members Diary / Blog / Journal - This would be a section where members can post up about their cars and the modifications that they've done to them in a chronological fashion. The threads would give ideas to other members, be informative and would also act as an aide memoire to the poster of exactly what's been achieve on his/her car over the course of time. Members could also add a signature picture to their profile that acted as a hyperlink to their own blog / diary etc rather than list all the modifications that they have done, someone would be able to view them in a thread instead. :)

2) Has anyone considered a mailshot to independent service specialists in their areas? - I was thinking that maybe there could be a section dedicated to discounted servicing / repairs (possibly in the members discounts section) and this could be split into relevant areas like: South Coast, Midlands, London etc. If we were to ask the independent specialists for a discounted rate, I'm sure a lot would offer this on the back of their name being listed as a place to visit for members in the relevant regions. The same thing could also be adopted for parts supply companies possibly?

3) I've also noticed that there are no site traders or sponsors as such. There are a few posts about discounted rates for this and that but I'm sure that this site must cost a fair few quid to run on a yearly basis? So I'd like to suggest that a section could be opened up to a few companies as a site sponsor. In exchange for a contribution to the site running costs, a forum sponsor could have their own section to advertise and sell their products. The sponsor would obviously have a dedicated base of members to advertise their products too and could even offer discounted rates to members on a 'group buy' basis. I would also like to suggest that members be given the opportunity to contribute to the site running costs as a way of putting back a little something to show their appreciation to what a great site this is. The contributions would be on a voluntary basis with people being able to give whatever they could afford. Let's face it, this site is forever helping members out by saving them a fortune in garage costs, parts etc. Even if 10% of the money saved by these people was ploughed back into the forum, I'm sure that it would benefit the forum greatly.

I would also like to add that these thoughts of mine are purely suggestions. I love the way this forum operates and I have no complaints with how it is run or think that I could do any better myself. i am merely trying to help out by suggesting a few thoughts of my own and assist in the smooth running of this great community.

Thanks for taking the time out to read my post and your comments are welcomed, even if they are to flame me. :)

Suggestion 1) We have a VBgarage for members so that they can post pics and details of their cars and any upgrades/modifications.

Suggestion 2) There are a lot of things that are going on behind the scenes - stay tuned ;)

Suggestion 3) We have a few site sponsors who have a banner at the top of the page - others that dont wish to pay for advertising but are happy to offer our members a discount can contact a member of staff and their details and discount is added to the "members discount" section.

The site is only a little over a year old and is progressing all the time.

Keep the ideas coming tho - its your site too!

@ Suggestion 1 - I saw the vbgarage but I thought that was shut down? There doesn't appear to be any way to post your posts up there?

@ Suggestion 2 - I'll wait with baite breath

@Suggestion 3 - Does that mean that anyone can offer parts or services to members? Are there any hard and fast rules etc? Only I might be interested in offering a few things to people if i was allowed to do so?

Once you have added your details to the VBgarage you can update it as often as you like - it doesn't work in the same way as posting but it is the next best thing and is a much tidier way of keeping up to date with what people are up to with their cars.

All members discounts have to be authorised by the staff before being offered to the forum - A PM to Justin (ideally) or one of the others on the team and we can go from there ;)

You're ideas are very welcome, all suggestions are appreciated we need your input to know what to do to make things better.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't think I'm making myself very clear, I can't see how I can make up my own vbgarage post.

It's in your User Control Panel, User CP at the top of the page.

In your user control panel there is a clicky to edit your vbgarage. If you want to view someone else garage then just click on their name once you have clicked on the icon @ the top of the page.

Am i reading you right?
