Hi
my V70R 1998 has a cd changer DIN cable pre-installed inside the passanger side of the boot. Does any one know if I can use http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/342.html to connect a AUX input (I just want to use the cable for a stereo input and no control). Does the head unit support 'Alpine M Bus' or is it some Volvo variant ?

Thanks

Ok ...done a bit more searching and its not as straight forward as first appears. It looks like 'blitzsafe' do a device that uses the boot 'trunk' CD cable and privides two phono (RCA) AUX inputs link is here... Blitzsafe - VOL/AUX DMX V.2 (http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/volvo_aux.html) (not that cheap though !)

Yep think uve cracked it for yourself. I recently bought one of those blitzsafe adapters from the US and it works a treat. It is expensive but there is nothing else out there that I can find either.

Thanks for the reply, I don't suppose you can let me know which American company you bought from and what the shipping was ?

Thanks

(the other option is Maplins FM modulator hard wired kit http://www.maplin.co.uk/Home.aspx?C=GKW&U=175955&criteria=maplins but not sure what the quality would be like, I've already tried one of those AUX input cassette things and the sound quality is very bad - background hum and low volume)

I've tried an fm modulator and couldnt get a good result with it frequent background noise e.t.c.And there is always the fact that they are illegal which probably won't but could cause you problems. The total cost with shipping from your link is less than £60 which i dont think is that bad so might be worth considering as a good fm modulator will probably cost about the same.

Thanks, sorry I hadn't noticed the shipping charge on the link :slap:

By the way the Maplins FM modulator (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=44128&TabID=1&source=3&doy=search) , is a hard wired (so legal) kit, which plugs the AUX directly into the aerial input on the head unit and you then have a switch to select Aerial or AUX) But I think it might suffer from the same sound quality issues.

What I'm trying todo is to get the output from a DVD player (which also plays back MP3 disks) into the Volvo Head unit. The DVD sound output at the moment is only going via the screens and is a bit tinny . The DVD player and two screens were only £106 +vat (from Ebuyer link here (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=97655) ) and the kids are very happy with it, but I'm not sure about spending another ($80 + $60) $140 dollers buying the AUX converter
