Hi all
So have just finished installing some bc’s but noticed they are a good inch or 2 shorter than stock meaning the end links pull up on the arb more. That and with lowering is making me wonder if my poor arb bushes are getting super flexed!

Could anyone share any pics of their arm from behind the front wheel while the car is sat resting? Be nice to compare!

I also seem to have a green paint dot on the arb which I believe relates to size? Measure just over 21mm

Thanks!

Si, sorry but what is a "bc"?
Cheers W
will dig out what I have on ARB's unless someone beats me to it. I was more intrested in the rear ones as mine e is quite understeery as it is. But I did look at the fronts at the time. Think my t5 had 21.5 on the front.

Hi guys
Yes sorry bc racing coilovers! I have the 21mm bar I think but it definitely looks very rotated now the car is much lower and just wondered how it sits in a non lowered car for reference. But concerned il test the vulcanised arb bushes then clunk clunkety clunk...!

Thanks

Mate, I had a list somewhere but could not find it - probably on a piece of paper somewhere. So did a search - found this here...
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56982&p=288019 so thanks to Matthews site a gain. I have a feeling somebody (Tim?? Don?? Provided this info on here at some stage)

...All those fronts are interchangeable. If you buy an OEM bar, I'd get the thickest one (21.5 mm).

As for what cam (sic) on the car, you can tell by looking at the bars. Volvo mixed and matched the bars a lot. The best way to tell what a bar is, is by the paint splotches on it:

front sway bar part #s:
9173982 O.Dia 20 mm (marked red)
9173983 O.Dia 21 mm (marked yellow)
9173471 O.Dia 21.5 mm (marked yellow/blue)

rear sway bar part #s, probable O.Diameter:
9191459 (marked green) 19.5 mm
9191461 (marked yellow) 20 mm
9191462 (marked blue) 20.8 mm
9191494 (marked black) 21 mm

Cheers

Thanks woz. I think I found the same article!

Maybe mine has faded a bit as it looks a different colour to all those but pretty sure it’s the 21.5mm bar. My question mainly though is how far do the ends rotate forward and up on a standard car? As mine is now very low it’s pulling the bar quite a long way round and up

Thanks again

Might be worth shortening the drop links if you are worried about it. Not a difficult job for the level of mods I know you are capable of. Cheers Woz

These links are adjustable ;)

Mine is lowered 35mm and I've not had any trouble with the arb bushes.

If yours are shot then change them but if they look OK, I doubt it's worth the effort changing them.

Thanks guys (sorry don’t seem to be getting notifications for this thread!), seems ok still so will leave and see for now!

New topic...
Rear springs on my bc’s seem to twang now and again especially over small one sided bumps, seem preloaded ok and equal but an odd sound! Sounds like they slip from their perches slightly.

Thanks!

Mine have never twanged, how much preload have you got?

That’s the golden question lol! Had quite a bit of trouble getting the rears setup and still not completely convinced although it rides and drives ok. Think I have about 5-7mm.

My Spring measures 1.25 inch from the bottom of the upper perch to the top lock ring when all nipped up and the damper from shaft seals to lock ring is now 40mm all while off the ground.

They only twang occasionally, sounds a bit like if you turn them by hand when the cars in the air

Thanks
