I am Contemplating purchasing a 850RT5R from someone local to me who has owned the car for the last 15 years . What should I look out for . Peter

Service history, blue/white smoke on acceleration, blue smoke on start up (cold).
Cambelt history, crank case breather replaced?

At that money you should have a file of receipts as thick as the yellow pages, be immaculate inside & out, plus be a lowish mileage manual.
If not buy a £3k car and spend the balance on getting up to spec.
Edit - it’s an auto with nearly 140k on the clock and has had two long 3yr plus lay ups in the past ten years. so don’t go above £4k It’ll be dead money.

Ps if your looking to spend strong money then a Japanese import is a decent shout as they are generally low mileage, mechanically sound & immaculate.
