I will start out by saying I feel like a bit of a prat as I seemingly haven't done all of my homework (story of my life) so I will take any good-natured piss taking in my stride.

So, I have purchased a B5234T3 engine from a 99 V70 T5 and I now come to realise this may be an issue if it is meant to be going into an 850.

The information already available regarding these engines doesn't fill me with hope that this will be a viable transplant but I'm hoping someone can give me a bit more info.

If worse comes to worse I'm sure i can beg the seller to buy it back.

Thanks!

B5234T3 is same engine code as my '98 S70, but that's M4.4. Being from a '99 would make your engine ME7?

If so, it's far from straightforward.

Any way of telling?

It came from a breakers so it's unlikely they'd know the difference.

Has it got the throttle body on it?

Traditional cable operated throttle, a distributor and HT leads, "20 Valve" on the plug cover, just looks like your 850 engine really - M4.4

Electronic throttle (No cable), no distributor (Individual coils on each plug), Just Volvo on the plug cover - ME7

Pretty sure it's an ME7 engine after what you're described.

Annoying.

Yeah, that's ME7 alright.

There's a pre ME7 engine in sales here (http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?63230-B5234T3-Pre-Me7-T5-engine)

Not sure how much work would be involved converting the one you have otherwise.
Cam driven distributor and VVT are just a couple of ballaches off the top of my head.

It sounds like a bit of a ballache given it's coil on plug etc and potentially different engine mounts.

I'll find a solution, thanks for the heads up on the engine.
