According to the site below, the answer is no for '99-'00 cars

does your etm have a yellow or a white volvo part no. label on it, as the white ones where prone to failure and the yellow ones are good normally, it is possible to swap over and trick them into running, as i did on our 1999 V70R awd, but really should be reprogrammed at volvo or the like with the proper equipment. As I said I swapped mine and got it to work, battery was left of for a week, It was lumpy on start-up but soon learnt what was going on and ran ok....that said it would still probably benifit from a session on a specialist's computer to get the best out of it, but it will need that anyway when it is converted to manual awd later this year.

Just to correct myself, they are all marelli units, but the yellow labelled item is the one to have....loads on ebay when I just looked

i know i found some but they younger car models 2003 onwards or T Models. as far as i investigated t Models don't agree with non turbo.
I can be wrong and if this is the case i can have a refurbished one from nearby.
o have a spare but both i have are white labels.
i hope tomorrow - i see someone who can hopefully help - i know more about.
i strongly belief the previous owner never did the part of letting the ecu know about the replacement etm.
well i find out tomorrow, i think i can fix the one i have with some help i been offered.
so i know more tomorrow.

sorry. 5th cylinder has low compression. gives the same symptoms as etm failure.
because the ETM will tryt to compensate on Revs therefore the running issues.
so etm is working fine so everything else.just not the engine. not happy but on the other hand its not the etm.
tomorrow off to pick a mark 1 up.
enough of etm and stuff trouble.
at least on the older one i can check things like that and know what to look out for.
I am cured from the Mark 2.
been and seen Tim about it. Even he said without the proper testing Equipment there where no way to know the exact Fault
so selling it for Spares and repairs. sure someone has the Time to fix it. i need a car on the Road by next week so i cant afford fiddling around with it for a week or so.
Its a Shame it is fully Loaded with everything and all of it works. even the new Radio works fine, smooth Gearbox and so on.
its just the needs come first.
so if anyone wants a project here it is jst make me an offer.

before i forget the rear washer bottle is only half full. lol But so is the Tank.
and MOT nearly 9 month !!!!

Ah well, who ever takes it off your hand, for the right price, will have themselves a bargain then!

With cylinder 5 down on compression, the car's worth about as much as your leather interior.....£300 and you'll be glad to see it go.

I would maybe consider an offer if you fill up the rear screen wash bottle to the brim, then I'd just have to persuade the missus it's a great deal.:Handshake
