Hi all
I have a 2004 XC70 2.5T petrol 5 speed manual gearbox. So far I have fitted V70R discs and calipers, new clutch and flywheel, new angle gear sleeve, poly inserts in the subframe, updated drop links on the anti roll bars, 18inch Pegasus alloys, polly bush bottom engine steady and upper engine steady bush, changed the bushes in the upper engine steady bar mounts to alloy bushes and the small bush in the bar to an alloy one. This should stop the engine rocking back and forth as much and brace the front stut towers up. The reason for these mods is the car will is going to be used as a rally support vehicle and recce car on the rallies we do in Europe. One day it will be used by myself and my co-driver for making and checking pace notes, then while we a actually competing in the rally the mechanics will be using it to refuel the rally car and carry out emergency repairs to the rally car.
When making pace notes the car gets quite a hammering on the brakes, as the roads are tight and twisty, although we stay within the speed limits and not racing.

What I would like some advice on is springs, dampers and anti roll bars, as I need the car to handle fairly well on the twisty lanes and not wallow about like a ship at sea. if anyone can tell me what they have used and the results that would be a great help, for example how does the anti roll bars off an R car work on a XC70.

This is a link to a video of us competing in Belgium earlier this year, mine is the white and blue Escort Cosworth, and these are the roads we will be using the XC70 on.

As far as shocks, I would recommend the Bilstein. B6 with standard springs or B8 with lowering springs. Alternatively, the B12 pro kit, which comes with Eibach lowering springs.
My R has the B6s with stock springs (front) and the original 4C rears. The Bilstein feels way more planted on a twisty-bumpy back-road vs the 4C (Monroe).
If you're looking for better handling but still comfortable ride, go with the B6.
