I picked up a box trailer today (empty) of course, fine towed it through the traffic of Newton abbot car and trailer took it in the stride. However I got on the dual carriageway and the car started shaking well the trailer did in fairness when I was getting towards 45-50, so I backed down and cruised the rest of the way at 40. Anybody got any towing knowledge I'm guessing it's because the trailer was empty. All tyres and things okay and the lad I bought it off towed it in his transit to Taunton and back the other day. With no issues.

Could be uneven tyre pressures, but possibly unbalanced wheels or buckled wheel or tyre not sitting properly.
It could also be a dry towball as that can produce some strange effects and noises, should be lightly greased.

Could be drag, buffeting like when you have your window open at certain speeds?

May explain how there were no ill effects with a Transit, but if it sticks miles above your car...?
