Hello all,

I have recently purchased a maroon 96 T5 CD with 88k and FVSH and am very pleased with it. Have always liked the T5 and when my Rover 220GTi developed a diff bearing issue, I didn't hesitate! I have a couple of thoughts though. Apologies for the long post.
Firstly, it seems to wallow quite a lot round corners. The rover was very hard but thought a T5 would be firmer. Could this be shot dampers? Looking in to replacing the springs and dampers, but after a closer inspection of the Haynes Book of Lies decided it's a bit much for me to do. Realligning geometries is past my capacity I think. Has anyone had this done, and if so what sort of damage am I looking at?
Seem to have the dreaded 850 ABS light problem. After reading more on this it would seem most likely that it is the ECU. Is there anyone who re-solders these as the re-con unit still seems a bit much to me. Would heatshielding the unit help reoccurance?
I quite like the fact that the car is ghost-racer, but am considering making it look more like a standard T5. At present it has a shallow front bumper (no fogs), no rear spoiler and sits a bit high on the springs. Any suggestions as to a good supplier of these parts?
Lastly, are there any meets near Sutton, Surrey? Round these parts the roads are awash with Escorts and Novas!

Cheers!!

Nik

Nik, not sure who you would go to down south but i know volvotuning do a full suspension upgrade for about £700, GuyT5 has it on his V70 and believe me its impressive.

The abs issue is an easy one, send it to Dave850R, he works on a no fix no fee basis and has done mine with no problems, also many other.

As for the power upgrade, choice is yours, Rica is the best of the best in my opinion, but there are alternatives and cheaper mods you can do although some risky.

You are also entitled to discount from VT as a member on here, give them a call on 01527 577710 to get some idea.

:welcome:

yes you might notice a subtle difference between this and other car forums - in so much that we actually answer posts. :thewave:

Like J said, I have repaired a few ABS ECUs now and still have a very high success rate. I think it is 100% but the results were fogged by a faulty sensor on the rear axle.

I can show you how to get the unit out. Then send it to me. I can have it back to you in a couple of days. If you are not entirely happy then you don't pay a thing. PM me for more details.

Enjoy your new ride and look out for meet-ups. I live in Brum so I am always happy to meet new owners if you are in the local area - and then bore them silly about the ins/outs of T5 ownership. :hidesbehi
