Alright Guys,

Just picked up what I believe to be the bargain of the century, so now doubt will be spending all my 'working' hours on this forum trying to work out how to make it faster!!

Been looking for a T5 for a very long time (since the DVLA took my licence 18months ago and I haven't been able to be on the road), and finally came across the perfect one on ebay last week!

As you can see from the photos, she is a black 95 model T5, spec'ed up to T5R standard (apart from engine mod's) by the first onwer, Volvo Car UK, for whom it was a demonstrator. This means it has the lower and stiffer suspension, the 17" Titans (in black), full black leather and walnut etc. Also, check out the plate....M850 ***, NICE! Since being owned by Volvo it has had two owners who meticulously maintained a 'Full Volvo Service History' over it's mere 86,000 mile life. She runs sweet as a nut!

I think the owner slipped up and didn't check the going rate for such a beast and put it on ebay with a 'Buy-it-Now' of £2,000 - so I snapped it up!

We (my mate had to drive because of the licence situation) gave her a nice run back from Wales to London and saw her past 140mph and still pulling (on my private bit of the A40 obviouly)! Eventhough, having read the posts in here a bit I will be looking to do a few mods to get a little more out of her.

Currently, I'm thinking about the 280 ECU re-mapp (but would consider a 304, how much does it cost?) and I was thinking about a dump-valve, though there seems to be some split opinion about this....!

Also, my car currently doesn't have a CD player. I was thinking that i would be able to get a any changer for it and an adapter lead. Is this the case? If so, how much? or would you recommend a double din upgrade?

Cheer Guys,

Wes

Oooops, forgot to say where the photo's were. Now that i'm back home i have just uploaded a side on. As you can see the only thing letting it down is the greying door strips. Has anyone found a way of resoring them or is a case of going to Volvos?

Cheers for the comments.

She looks very nice indeed :thewave:

Top buy at £2k

But jfyi and as many genuine `R' owners will tell you on here I think the only thing your car has on it which is `R' dressware is the Titan wheels. But still a cracking car mate well done :worship:

And any help I can be on increasing the Voov Voov Voom factor just ask away :dgrin:

Couldn't get pass the link to the car pics. Anyway, it's a real bargain for an "R". Here in Malaysia, the "T5-R or R" would be in the range of 12k pounds. I got my 1996 T5 for 10k pounds. Standard 225bhp/300Nm @ 2000rpm

Other prices (automatics) :
850 GLT (1994) 2.5 20V = 5.7k pounds
850 GLE (1996) 2.5 20V = 8.6k pounds
S70 GLE (1997) 2.5 20V = 11k pounds
855-T5 (1996) 2.3 20V = 10k pounds
855-T5R (1996) 2.3 20V = 11.4k pounds
V70-T5 (1998) 2.3 20V = 12.8k pounds

Where's the icon for rolling around the floor in tears of laughter, with a peg on nose?!

Definitely good buy at 2k "R" or not, well done that man.

As for greying body strips, here is a strange one my next door neighbour showed me, and after picking myself up of the floor tried it. (He is a second hand car dealer, that explains all)

What you do is get one of those black and decker paint stripper hot air guns, and heat them up. I dont have to tell you to watch the rest of the car if the items are still attatched. Just gently warm the plastics up and watch the colour come back before your eyes.

I'll see if I can find my before and after photo's for those disbelievers out there.

It just occurred to me Wes that I had not said hello.

:welcome:

It is great that you managed to bag a bargain like that. Rica is the way to go for sure. Your's would be the 310 upgrade (as you have manual tranny). I am not sure what the price is now - as a special offer has recently finished - I believe it was £470.

Enjoy the ride.
