Looks great! Looks in great nic. What results did you get from the RR? And who are unichip?

No that's not Dastek.

Unichip are a piggy back ECU company Mrs M, both Jacq and I attempted to have them fitted to the cars, it didnt work on her T4 as when Gerry had it all fitted he could only get 7 bhp more out of it, and didn't justify the cost for that gain so he removed it all and charged no money, plus supplied a Rolling road test on the car free of charge, this was when the T4 was just as Jacq bought it. However, the "before" run had the power at 228 bhp instead of 200, and a peak of 261 lb/ft instead of 221, so Gerry reckoned someone may have had a fiddle before, something Marco from TME/MTE said was also possible as the filename for the file in the ECU when he went to map it wasn't as volvo would normally name them he said, but there was no way to tell for sure. So in theory, Gerry got 235 bhp out of it, based on 200 as standard, just shy of RICA etc figures for a stock car if I remember rightly, which makes sense, basically just optimising the map.

On mine it didn't work due to electrical issues in my loom, ran fine on teh chip until it came on throttle or boost, then juddered, popped banged and spat flames lol, so it was a no go, and I'll be fitting DTA to go even faster next year ;)

The unichip is just a small box that intercepts the signals from the ECU to the sensors, injectors etc and modifies them to achieve a different map. Their HQ is at Dastek in Fife where we take the Rover and T4 for rolling road runs, knowledgabe chaps at Dastek. They don't claim any set figure for a car fitted with the unichip, they just map it and see what they get.

Ross

PS - You should have a bit of a look at other software available, RICA and MTE/TME as well as BSR box's, My better half has an MTE/TME remap on her T4 and we were very impressed with it, coupled with a BSR intake and heatshield and a full exhaust system and sports CAT it made 260.2 bhp and 305.7 lb/ft , it should probably be noted though that this was a custom map not an off the shelf map, Marco from TME came from Sweden mapped it on the road down in London.

Ahhh I see, I'd never heard of Unichip so thats useful info ;)

As Ross has said there are planty of tuning options available to Volvo's (believe it or not) so it may be worth you having a little look into people like BSR, RICA, TME and seeing whats available?

Ross thats very helpful, i will look into the other options..thanks alot....

i asked at dastek and he said for £550 could expect to see 30bhp.....but all good info...

the rr there is falkland performance last week, which it didn't get that good results...

got 191bhp which is a wee bit down but said it os more than likely due to the plugs.

getting oil/filter and plug change this week and it's going back on....i'll pst the graph it's all over the place, i'll see what it gets next week after plugs etc done...said also to reduce the gapping from the set to see better results ???

graph....
