So, newbie here, bought the Mrs a 2.4i SE Lux auto C70 of 2008 vintage, nice low mileage example.
Can anything be done to this to make it a bit more rapid or is it a case of it is what it is?
Confusion seems to reign with the mappers I have spoken too.
Not looking for a screamer but a bit more oomph would be nice (purchased due to colour combination - don't go there - she is a woman bless her!!)

Thanks

Naturally aspirated engines aren't worth mapping unless you fancy spending your life savings on hardware to go with it.

I would think the only thing you could do was fit a decent exhaust system, (might get you an extra 10hp) or you could think about a little squirt of laughing gas :)

Interesting.
A mapper I spoke to reckoned it could be tweaked by 16/18 hp and 30nm but ECU has to come out to do it.

Rica aren't famous for real world numbers but shows that maps are available for the 140hp version...but if yours is the 2.4i maybe that has 170 already

Nitrous would be a better idea though as above :)

170hp is ours I think.
Would be a bit nicer to have a bit more low down torque really.
Too blooming used to the TDV8 Range Rover I just got it probably not helping!

Personally, i think mapping an N/A can be worth it as its not all about peak numbers.

For example, when i had my bmw mapped the first time, the supposed (peak) gain was only around 10bhp and 15 lb/ft, but it produced something like 20bhp extra at what would have been previous red line (which was about 5900rpm before the map, but 6400 after). The max torque also came in at lower revs and for a larger range.
The map also removed the speed limiter and, as mine was an auto, it also altered the gearbox characteristics

So it can be good at removing "flat spots" or producing more power for longer.

As with all maps, it depends on the engine, tuner and if you're prepared to pay for it.
