I'm looking at these on Parts for Volvos:

Will they be suitable for use with 40mm lowering springs?

They're not nivomats so I can't see there being a problem.

Cheers

I ask because I was also looking at the shocks + Springs lowering 40mm lowering kit on partsforvolvos. I asked them what brand the shocks are, and they have advised me Meyle.

I think I'll stick with the Bilstein shocks and springs option.

Will springs for an 850 2.5 TDi fit a 1998 V70 2.5 TDi?

Think so.
I have boge automatic shocks with apex springs on mine and although the springs are a bit hard, the shocks perform well.

Aye, the Apex 850 springs were the ones I was looking at alright.

I've had Apex springs before and thought they were pretty good.

Just out of interest, what price did you find the Apex -40mm springs?

Does anyone have experience of Bilstein B8's they are supposed to be shortened stroke to suit lowering springs . But nobody ever seems to use them. I read on a Bilstein q&a site that they are better suited to cars lowered by 40mm as they can be prone to unseating the springs if you get some air on a bumpy road.

Having unseated my rear springs, I'm still deciding weather it'll be worth the outlay

That's what metal tie wraps are for!

According to MOT, the spring mustn't come free from it's mount when at the end of suspension travel, so strap 'em in and you'll be reet ;)

It only came out because I grabbed it and gave it a rattle to see if it'll cone out :(

The problem with tie wrapping them in is . On the right road they can go from over extended to completely compressed in a second which can't be very good for them. Which is where b8's will help .
Having said that, they seem to be really pricey compared with tie wraps. And B6s
