What is the skinniest tyre that I could safely fit to a 16" T5 Columba wheel either from an 850 or V/S70 ?

195?

Why?

Why?

I need some snow tyres for my S60, and have been told that the V70 Columba style wheels will fit fine. (Bonus is that they will fit the parents 850's too). It would be cheaper for me to get a set of tatty V70 16's rather than buy a set of steelies from Volvo...

Need some snow tyres, and the skinnier the better.

I can get 205/55/16 snow tyres cheaply, but I may struggle with the fitment of chains if I have to, as I had trouble fitting them on my 205/50/16's when I had them!

Does no-one use Colway's any more?? They do superb Winter tyres, 205/50/16 for 30 quid! I've used them for years, mostly on 4x4's...

Excellent link, but as I'm running 225/45/17's on the S60 I need 205/55/16's otherwise it'll throw my speedo out!

Why don't MyTyres.co.uk sell Colway? Are they really any good for that price? Most decent snow tyres seem to start around £55-£60 per corner.

I've used Colways for years,as I've said. If you got to any 4x4 offroad day, most of the serious guys on a budget use 'em,I can vouch for the grippyness of them!
Years ago I had a VW Santana GX5 (superb car by the way!) and had to put 4 tyres on it before going on holiday to Germany.I put 4 195/60/14 H rated Colways on it,and did 2200 miles in a fortnight,at Autobahn speeds! They were excellent! I'm gonna find a cheap set of 16"s and a set of Colways for the winter, they'll last for years!!

I recently put Michelin primacys on my wifes Alfa 146,and they are horrible, the Toyo's that were on previously were superb, now with the Michies,it understeers and slides everywhere..Last time I spend ££££'s on new tyres..

I use vredestein sportrac2 tyres 205/50/ 16's and they are great in any weather and are deemed winter tyres.

Vreddy Sportracs aren't snow tyres! They're just all season. There is a world of difference between all-season and snow tyres.

Vredestein do snow tyres, they're Wintracs, Snowtracs and Icetracs - quite a range.

My mistake :dunce:
, humble apologies , they were good on a snowy hill last year if that helps!
