Well I've only gone and done just picked up a t5☺
Feels like coming home. Had one a bit back. Kept the ecu because it was a rica 305 one. Piked the car up but it has no alarm fob. Am worried that putting the new ecu will activate the immobiliser. What's people's thoughts on this? All help gratefully received.

New ECU never affected my immobiliser etc, best thing it to plug it in and find out, easy swap back.

The immobiliser is operated by the transponder in the key, not the alarm fob.

I don't have a fob on my 850, and I muat have used at least half a dozen different ecu's on it with no issues.

Thanks everyone just reading up on it and you can programme new fobs yourself! So the ecu is not paired to the alarm system great news. Apart from the frequency that I will have to replace the front tyres lol.

That's right... Be careful though as there are two types of fobs for the 850 alarm - My car has two that came with it, but I bought another off ebay and it was the wrong type i.e. couldn't be programmed.

Here's a good link for fob reprogramming: http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/6860-850-programming-remote-control-keys/

Finding it difficult to upload pics atm. 3 and a half hour drive back in it ran great. Think wheels need balancing. Bonnet is badly misaligned. Bought it blind for 430 quid. 132k on it will get stuck into it tomorrow weather permitting. Heated seats are a bit lukewarm too.

That's a good link for the fobs. Does it mean that the large relays hold the codes are stored in the relays? Might be able to pick up a fob and relay from the scrappy.

Same colour and leather combo as mine, what condition is the interior in? (mine are not perfect and always on the look out for better condition fronts in that colour)

The heated seats are often traced to broken wires under the seat base, worth a check (both sides of mine required reattaching).

You will also want to dye the grey bumpers back to a dark colour, makes a good improvement visually.

Pity about the bonnet alignment as you say, but for that money you cannot complain!

The interior is quite nice. Carpets need a clean. But the leak in the drivers side front has started the process for me lol. Have used shoe polish on the grey bits before is there anything better? Side trims.are off the car. Was thinking of spraying them black before re fixing. Might have a gander under the seats in a bit.

Think it's a leak from somewhere as I don't think it's losing water.

Found this under seat. Connected back up seems to be working bit weak though.

Same thing I found with the seat wire! Interior looks in good order.

For the grey bits, I advise buying Plasticare off ebay (for black colour) worked well for me, there is also more expensive Wurths plastic dye which people rate highly.

You may also be interested to know, you appear to have a Switzerland toll pass in the window for 2015, this is worth €40 if you are planning to visit Switzerland before the end of the calendar year.

I know because I live out near Geneva most of the year

PS - if you ever decide to sell the front seats, let me know, they look less cracked than my pair.

Will bear that in mind. Apparently the car had a 3000 mile charity rally round Europe before I got it must be where the pass is from. Small world eh?
