Hi guys

I'm looking to replace the head unit on my 1997 V70. I want to keep it looking as tidy as possible, but can't seem to find a stereo that has a face plate that will cover up the old one.

What should I be looking for here, or how is this achieved?

Any double din unit should fit, on 850's there was a central runner that had to be cut once the factory radios removed & think it'll be the same on that

The guide runner is indeed still on the V70's you can just file this down if you want to fit a double din unit. Or you can fit a single din unit and a plastic shelf type thing which is the perfect size for a phone etc. This is an old photo now but you get the idea

Ah, so that's what double DIN means!

Thanks guys

Sorry if these questions are stupid, but I have 0 knowledge of ICE and associated terminologies.

I bought a Double DIN Pioneer SPH-DA100, but it doesn't fit properly into my dashboard.

It didn't come with any fixtures. What do I need to get to make it fit properly?

See this thread below fella

You need an installation kit with a cage & fascia panel, maybe the one below but I'm not 100% (trim surround might not match for example)

Do the mult-plugs & aerial connect OK? If not you can get adaptor looms

Got the adaptor loom the other day, and have the stereo plugged in and working.

Just bought that installation cage of eBay, so will have the stereo properly installed during the week.

I see that it was supposed to come with a microphone for use with Bluetooth phone calls as well.

Mine didn't come with a mic, but I see that the OEM mic has a standard issue 3.5mm headphone jack on it.

I'll buy one eventually, but I've got an old PC mic lying around somewhere that I'm pretty confident I can bodge in the mean time. (As much out of curiosity as out of being tight)

I was just doing the same thing on another car, with a single DIN Nakamichi CD-400

Ebay contains all the things we could ever (& never) want

For the single din set-up there is a neat six drawer cd storage tray that can be fitted to fill the gap, which I have in my olive look like it has always been there as it is a volvo part, which I ordered through the local stealer and the matching mounting trim for it, where still available for p1 v70's a few years back, so may still be if you fancy one for yours....:)
