Can this be changed for one that points horizontally rather than down to the floor? A nice chrome end piece wouldn't go amiss either!

Darren, why not go all out and get the LED lights on the end of the tip (said in jest :D )

Seriously, the reason why a diesel exhaust tip points down is that manufacturers dont want you to see all that dirty black stuff that comes out of it so.

Do you know what the bore of the exhaust is, if its anything like T5's you can get one off ebay.

Lol.. I know its there for a reason, but a nice chrome ending pointing straight out is much nicer looking and I dont really care if people have to eat my soot! (I don't think it smokes much anyway?)

It's way down on the list of things to do, but if I add the Heico front splitters (a possibility), tint the windows slightly and make it look a bit more... sporty (with the RICA to give it the go...) the current exhaust tip will spoil the look!!

As standard, it makes no difference to me if it's pointing downwards or not!

The new D5/2.4D's have a standard exhaust tailpipe which points out just like the petrols but is thinner. You would probably have to change the back box to get it to point less down! Or get the standard bit chopped off and a new one put on.

Cheers. I'll have a look see... is the entire exhaust system on the new D5's thinner or just the last section?

For the tip, I was thinking of a nice oval chromed jobbie, a bit like the standard 850 T5's.

On the new diesels the tip that sticks out is thinner than the petrol equivelant but I think its exactly the same width as the previous diesels but doesnt point down!

Their will be a change in the exhaust system somewhere for the new particulate filter but im sure that is somewhere near the engine.

Your best bet would be to get a new back box made and the old one cut off and the new one welded on.

Any idea of the cost of that, as a rough estimate? :)

Who does this kinda work?

Knowing nothing about diesels, is there such a thing as a performance exhaust for a diesel, if there is does it work on the same principle as petrol turbo exhausts?

People such as powerflow do that sort of work, not that I would recommend them at any level from my experiences of them, however their are members who would, all depends on the local dealer. Check in your Yellow pages for local exhaust specialists.

Think £150 would be the max you would want to pay for changing the back box to a custom unit.

I can't find any details of a performance exhaust for a diesel... not sure how they work... Adam?
