given i've had the old girl 5 years and never changed it once! (shame i know)

my question is, the water pump is near by, is it worth getting that done as well at the same time? Mechanic said it would only be another £20 on top to change it (thats not for the pump as well sadly lol)

The usual advice is not to change the pump unless it has excessive play or shows any leakage, the replacement pumps are thought to be inferior quality to the original ones.
Probably depends on your mileage to some extent too.

cheers orca.

There is something that makes a strange whinning sound on cold start which goes after a while and i thought it could be the water pump. I've never changed it and shes just shy of 220K
