hey can anyone give a rough idea at what sort of cost it would be to get a 740 or 940 to lets say 250-275 bhp or 300 bhp at a push

iv'e always fancyed a black 740 estate sleeper. ive read a few threads on turbo bricks, the staged tuning guide and also the guide they had in PPC mag a few years back.

i know there's a lot of factors like how much you can find bits for ect... i just want to see if im in the same ball park. PPC recons it can cost as little as £500 plus the car to get 250-300 bhp. Im struggling to belive that tbh.

cheers

Chipped ECU or MBC, I think he means running a turbo with more boost than originally intended...

Nope you need to turn the turbo 180 degrees if you search good it will give you a how to

He means the turbo turned around to face the right way, as required in fitting a 19t to a 940. ;)

Edit:
Damn, beat me to it Pete!

ahhhhhh i see, all becomes clear lol. so i take it that ppc mag saying you can get 250 300 bhp for £500 ish is a pile of crap?

i though it was to good to be true.

i think this is where the got there base info from:

Factor in costs
19t/18t 300
Exhaust 300
Injectors 60
Gold box and chips 150
Then you also need to start thinking about the clutch and the gear box unless you get a late 940
Next problem is then the open diff then the handling then the braking to do it right your into 2k.
No point having a old car running 300hp when it's suspension cannot handle in and you cannot put the power down

Bigger turbo ,exhaust ,3in maf,big filter, bigger injectors 470cc job done .300 bhp no probs then the clutch won't take it lol.

Standard turbo is good for 220 max but makes a quick car .get an early 15g and fit that with ether chips or bigger maf and 470cc injectors job done 250bhp easy .clutch will just about hold

That's what I was kind of thinking that, I've got an 855 R manual and don't get me wrong I love it but I just love the look of the older ones! Oh and the fact it's rear wheel drive.
