Hi guys,

4th gear on my car crunches; its terrible now.

Looking into getting the standard M56 5 speed manual box out and reconditioned.

Been looking also at the possibilities of swapping it for the M59 5 speed manual box found in the R.

Can this be done and a straight swap? If so, might be on the lookout.

Friend of mine was even mentioning about putting a Quaife differential in the M56 box instead.

What do you guys think?

the Quaife will give better results, but the M59 can be swopped if you have the longer driveshaft as well

Don't bother with the m59, any you find now will be past their best & were a bit fragile to start with. As above, get a standard box & lsd. Much more reliable & will stand up to increased power if your cars modified (to a point!).

Lsd - either gripper or quiaffe.

Good luck, Morgan
