View Full Version : Throckmorton Airshow - 6th June - Volvo Meet
stephenevans99
Sunday 3rd May 2015, 17:33
After the fantastic success of the VT200 Gaydon Meet which saw 209 Volvos on show, VolvoTuning have something special on the calendar which I thought needs to be shared:
Throckmorton Air Show on Saturday June 6th. The address is Long Lane, Pershire, Worcestershire WR10 2JH.
http://throckmortonairshow.co.uk/
VolvoTuning has been awarded a priority position on the runway, set back just 100 metres from the flight line as the Battle of Britain Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane, and the awesome Vulcan Bomber fly past on several slow speed runs.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2/stephenevans99/Volvo%20Tuning/BANNERS/ThrockmortonFBBanner.png (http://s24.photobucket.com/user/stephenevans99/media/Volvo%20Tuning/BANNERS/ThrockmortonFBBanner.png.html)
On the ground there will be the biggest collection of Emergency and Military vehicles in the UK. There will be plenty of food vans even a mobile pub so you really will be in for a fantastic day out.
The event is ticket only which must be bought in advance. YOU CANNOT JUST ROCK UP ON THE DAY!!!!
VolvoTuning has secured a heavily discounted rate as a Club, so the cost of entry to the event is:
£10 PER CAR INCLUDING ENTRY FOR UP TO 4 OCCUPANTS (normal ticket price is £15 per person!!!!).
All proceeds will go to several armed forces charities so come on let's make this a big event getting into our summer meeting season.....this will be an awesome event.
The show itself we have the UK's largest selection of military and emergency response vehicles and the highlight will be a fly past of the Vulcan bomber and battle of Britain flight.
As a club we will be on the second runway just 100 metres from the main runway and flight path for the fly by's having the ultimate view.
Arrival at Throckmorton is to be no later than 10.00am. Gates will open at 07.00am and will close for display cars at 10.00am. The show is scheduled to finished by 17:00.
This year’s event is set to be the biggest so far. To have the Vulcan already confirmed is both a tremendous achievement and an honour at the same time. If you haven’t seen this awesome aircraft before you will be amazed (you’ll be awestruck regardless!) and it’s the first time it has appeared at the Throckmorton Air Show
As things currently stand the Royal Air Force’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fighters, the Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire, are set to perform a number of flypast with the Aircraft Restoration Company’s Bristol Blenheim Mk1 at this year’s Throckmorton Air Show on Saturday 6 June.
Jump4Heroes is The Royal British Legion Extreme Human Flight Team and we are delighted to confirm that they will appearing at this year’s airshow.
All of the team are serving or former members of the Army and Jump4Heroes supports charities that help the UK’s Armed Forces by fund raising and increasing public awareness of the charities and their plight. They do this by taking calculated risks and carrying out extreme projects, normally related to parachuting, canopy flight or BASE jumping!
We are also delighted to confirm that Rise Helicopters will once again be operating pleasure flights at Throckmorton Air Show this year – what a great way to see the event and local area from the air or to treat a loved one to a brilliant gift!
So get this date in your diary, confirm your coming by adding your name to the list and I'll be in touch to take registration numbers and confirm bookings.....need to get this sorted quickly as time is of the essence in getting organised.
Please support and let's make it a VOLVO FEST

Already proving a popular meet with 40+ attending within the first 24 hours of going live....would be brilliant to have over 100 cars on the runway making the Volvos the largest club on the day....not to mention raising over £1000 for charity :B_thumb:

But too far for me, if you ever organise something a bit more southerly I'd def be up for it.
I suppose there must be a few air fields down this way left over from the war down this way, just never see any car meets on them.

I dunno if you run a p2 r, may as well run anything, so dreadful on mpg, I get 18-20.
I will be getting something else most likely petrol, I'd love the v8 which I gather is pretty much the same as the t6s.

With less than 10 days to go, Volvotuning, VEC, VPCUK and the C30 Crew are combining to be the biggest single make car club on the day with just over 100 Volvo cars committed to attending....
Great news as the money raised now totals just over £1000 and will go to several cancer and emergency services charities.
Millsy states 'I must close the book for entry to this event this coming Sunday, so ....there is still chance to attend if you have not yet registered.'
Register for your ticket on the Facebook events page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1001887649824443/
Please share the link and encourage others to come along to what promises to be our best meet yet!
Here's a small advert we've quickly put together to cover off the key points....let's have some more cars along and support some great charities.

This will be the final information post before we meet at the Throckmorton Air Show meeting this coming Saturday June 6th.
It's a long post but contains important information so please ensure you read in full.
In summary this post tells you how and where you collect your event pass..... (Important). A list of the attendees and car numbers ...(Please remember your car number as this will help when issuing the pass and when parking in the VT line up on the runway).
So here we go....
How you obtain your pass.
SAT NAV POSTCODE WR10 2DY
From the North and Midlands travelling South on the M5. Leave motorway M5 at junction 6 .
If you are travelling from the South travelling Northbound on the M5, also please leave the motorway at Junction 6, (Not junction 7), and follow the below instruction.
Take the exit off the round about following signs to Evesham on the A422
Keep driving straight over at the roundabouts following signs onto the A44 Evesham and Pershore.
Keep following the A44 and you will come across a pub on a junction called "The Berkley".
(Keep driving forward on the A44 past the pub, this is just a landmark to ensure your on the correct road).
From The Berkley, continue forward on the A44 for another 1.4 miles at which point you will come across a signed junction for the village of Peopleton and Peopletons Post office.
Continue straight through the cross roads but start to slow. As you come off a left hand sweeping bend you will come across a large lay by on your right.
Pull into this lay by and the VT support car will be parked here to issue tickets and take payment.
Once you have your ticket in screen you will be directed further onto Throckmorton and the airfield.
******Please note. Security for this event will be tight and upon being directed into the airfield security will check your car against the reg number and designated car number you've been given. If you are not displaying the Exhibitor entry pass you will be turned away.*********
Please ensure you hook up with the VT event car and if there are any changes we can correct and call ahead for you.
On the day a one way system will be put into operation to ensure traffic flows correctly into and out of the site. Therefore I have chosen this lay by as a good location as its close to the airfield but far enough away as not to cause jams and interfere with the diversions.
You must ensure you are on the airfield for 10am as the site will be secured for the displays.
I will be stationed at the lay-by from 07:45 until 09:45 when I will leave to join the party.
(Admittance to the airfield will be from 8:00 am to 10:00 am).
When on the airfield please ensure you pay attention to marshals and keep your speed down please...... I know it's tempting but it's important to ensure you keep VT's name in good esteem as I want us to be invited back for our own speed trials day later in the year.....on this future event you can Max IT ;) :)
For now...thank you for supporting as our combined clubs have raised over £1000 which will go directly to the charities highlighted on your entry pass.
Well done everyone...all that remains is to say thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing you there, this will be a great day and one I know you will remember for many years to come.
Do not forget your sunscreen, caps and sun glasses and cameras.....remember! .... you'll be looking skyward a lot.
The weather is forecast to be near perfect and will be dry and warm on the day and if you cannot make it, please please PM me so I know who's where on the day.
Here is a short video which will help you in looking out for the VT support car and lay by.

Thanks mate, the camera flatters to deceive. IMO it needs a full body respray, and the wheels are badly kerbed ( a previous owner), but my priority has always been power, and on that front with the japanifold, 18T , and ferrita downpipe with 200 cell sports cat fitted, and working as it should, it's savage. It actually feels quicker than the S60R, but that might be down to the power delivery, and its rawness compared to the R.
