i want to try & record live rpm data from an early non-OBD socket'd car to add onto video's. I've read i think it was Pete's thread on how to wire the OBD socket in, but apparently still needs Volvo software (VOLACR or something) to read it. Obviously that won't record the data i need. Does anyone know how or what can be used to read the info & record it into a time/rpm file format

this is what i was thinking of using (LINK (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121399669442)), paired to my iPhone to log the data. But by the sound of it this/the app won't read the info from a non-OBD 850

Something like this maybe

A bit pricey just for RPM

//edit

or could be something useful in here, might just be for OBDII though

Get an M4.4 ecu and flash the hacked ecu file that the VS guys have been developing and you can log loads of data to a laptop.
