Gents, do you have any comments/preference on the tyres below (for my S70)..

Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39

Falken Ziex ZE-914 Ecorun

Avon ZZ5

Toyo Proxes 4

All are in the MSA permitted tyres list (https://www.msauk.org/assets/196-210commonregulationsforpermittedtyresl-1.pdf), which is my guide in a world of confusing tyres, & are under 70 quid a corner for 205/45x17 W's or quicker. Rim size is 7.5J

I really rate the falken 914's. They offer exceptional wet grip and great in the dry. They were one of the only tyres capable of holding on to 300+ft/lb on my tdi a year ago when I still had 15" steels!

I like Falkens also. Yosser's old S70R is now mine, & it seems to have a fair amount of torque! Like a 5 GT Turbo when the boost arrives...plenty of torque steer

I think you should can all of them and have a look at the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, which is also on your list! Best tyre I have ever fitted!! Much, much better than the Toyo's.

You just reminded me I had an A6 with those on, great in the wet, a hundred quid a corner though, I'll have to save up

Just to throw a random choice in try looking at Neutons (they have a website) . I've got the red R shod in them & find them plenty grippy & pretty hardwaring. NT5000's on mine at £75/corner delivered. Good luck, as everyone has an opinion on tyres.......:)

personally i swear by the Rainsports. Had the 2's on and now have the 3's awesome grip in the wet and there is a site you can get them from delivered at £60-70 each which is www.camskill.co.uk

Ordered my last 2 sets from them with no problems in the slightest.

I had toyo proxies on the sonic when I bought it all nearly new but one had a bulge so I replaced it, within a month a second had a bulge to I replaced them with some budgets that had been perfect since.

I was a bit wary about cheap ones tbh, I was thinking of taking it on the track while the Renault 5 was in bits. Falken seemed decent mid range choice.

My old S70 had about 400 Nm & this R seems to have quite a bit more....450 plus?? So would be hopeless trying to grip out of a tight corner, without at least half decent sticky boots on

I was more saying avoid the toyos, I fortunately don't have the traction problems, but I'd fit different tyres if I went on the track myself.

They are on the list Mike, sounds good

I've 'only' got 7.5 inches though compared to your 9!!! Mind you, my Renault has 9J minilites on the back - using Yoko A022 on that....

Great all round tyre in my opinion, still have the 452's on the front. I paid £270 fitted for two 255/35/19's so great value for money to.
