I've just checked on VIDA and it says....

NOTE! After replacing the throttle unit, the throttle unit must be adapted using the vehicle communication input: "Adaptation of the electronic throttle unit".

You may need to ask Volvo to confirm. I assume by that, they mean, the car needs to be plugged into VIDA.

Swapped ours on our V70R AWD P1 Ph3 which is the same as it is ME7, it didn't want to play ball to start with, but left the battery off for a few days and then left ignition on for thirty minutes with the battery re-connected (not that I was keen on doing that) but it then started, it was a little rough around the edges to start with, but soon learnt and ran fine without the need to visit Volvo and be relieved of some of my hard earned. I don't say this will work in all cases but thats how I did mine and all thanks to some kind person on here who put it up when I was struggling.......thanks again to whoever that was

I don't think even Volvo will be able to code it to your Merc. ;)

The reasons is a local garage has asked me the question, I dont deal with the garage much on a trade basis but they have asked me because they know i have a common interest in Volvo's (apart from the BL Brown ones) lol

Yes ur right i do drive MB, but ts far from a tractor, Why cant i still be into my Volvo's?? just because i dont own one? Ive had 4 850 t5's, a 854 Gul, a 855R, v70 t5, ph2 v70 t5, and built Blacky's running gear ground up.

Id have another Gul at the drop of a Hat if id have the money, The MB suits my situation better than the Volvo's for various reasons which im not going to go into on here. But ive far from lost interest in Volvo's nor some of the great friends ive made on hear and Voc.

I'm only pulling your leg mate, I'd like an AMG CLS one day, but I'd never own a diesel. :D

Anyway back on thread the garage rang Volvo in maldon an according to them the etms don't need programing if numbers match? I'm not so sure..... Time will tel

Adaptation doesn`t mean coding, just switch the ignition on for about 45 sec I think and let all that noise from the flap motor to settle. Its the same as if u clean a TB and let it selfadapt
