Anyone know where I can buy new exhaust manifold studs from? need some to replace the ones in the replacement head I've got. Is it main dealer only?.. Tried PFV but couldnt find any.

No big standard ones are fine. They come in a variety of lengths.
My only extravagance was to buy aero nuts so that they don't unbolt themselves. These can be expensive (well as expensive as OE nuts).

Make sure you get the ones with the thread all the way down. I have had issues with the ones with the stop in them pulling out as they did not go to the bottom of the hole in the head properly. e.g. like these...

you need to take a bit more care to not over insert them. I use copper flashed nuts to make sure they stayed put.

Cheers guys, I'm gonna ring FRF when I get a minute. Trying to scrape the rest of the bits together to swap the head over.

Just pop into an exhaust centre, they usually have loads for a few quid.

That's more than my Japanifold cost.

Really??

Stud #982667 £2.30ea (total £23)
Washer #419401 £3.75ea (total £37)
Flange lock nut #985868 £0.65ea. (total £6.50)
You'll also need some springs for the heat shields. Two IIRC and there only a couple of quid each. Also two long bolts (one longer than the other).

Those were for my R. Not sure if yours are the same? The stud is the same as the one in the picture by Dave.

10 x (above) + 2x springs and 2x long bolts = £80 approx.

Are the ones they quoted you for made of Gold or something? :cuckoo:

I thread locked my studs cos the ££££ers kept working loose. So far they've been ok. Nearly stripped one in the head thou, so be careful. Use the Volvo specified Torque setting. (but you knew that anyway)

Well I managed to get all the exhaust studs replaced (the ones that where either missing or chewed up) with new nuts and fitted for £30. I took it back to the engine reconditioners and asked them to sort some out for me.

Excellent news... I did similar. I think I paid about £6.00 for a full set. What do Volvo studs do better than a patent part? Are they titanium or something??
