I've been asked to possibly fit a obd2 socket into the gul for live date readings after doing a little searching there a bit on info on the net and all point to 3 wires one for earth one for live and the other to b36 K-line to the ecu.
So today I started to fit it but did notice that the K-line wire from the obd2 socket actually splits into 5 wires.

Wire run for pin b36
But as it said it only needs to go to pin b36 that's all ive done once wired in I put the reader on but it just keeps up with no coms weather ignition is on red or weather the car is running its just the same.
Am I missing some thing as to me with that white wire splitting into 5 would they all need to be connected to their correct places to read date?
Any help of info would be much appreciated

That's the right idea, I'd double check everything, is the b block the front or rear section?

Also what port on the obd connector did you wire b36 to?

OBD2 socket

pin 4 to earth

pin 7 to b36 K-line

pin 16 to live
its my understanding b block is the one to the bulk head

Yeah I was going to keep them but the problem is with the little mileage I do it would be years before I run the tread off these tyres on the sats but im in no rush and just as happy if they don't sell.
As for bkv I carnt be doing with that having some one nit pick over my car oooo that bolt is a little mucky lol

I couldn't be ar$ed to clean it that much for bkv and stand around kicking tyres all day to find out I didn't win, rather have me foot flat on the throttle getting smiles per mile.....lol

ne worries

Pete the first link I posted says:

Yellow/Brown wire from pin 3 on new OBD socket goes to Yellow/Brown wire from pin 2 of diagnostic box socket under bonnet.

Black wire from pin 4 on new OBD socket goes to earth.

Brown wire from pin 5 on new OBD socket goes to earth.

White wire from pin 7 on new OBD socket goes to White wire from pin 6 of diagnostic box socket under bonnet.

Red wire from pin 16 on new OBD socket goes (eventually) to 10 amp fuse #15

Might be ££££££££ but that's what it says.

Sorry for the late update but I've got it all working.
Pin B36 is no good what so ever as stated on the net you need to connect to pin B5 and with the Volvo reader it all works giving all live data.

nice one on getting it working. Does it need to be a Volvo reader & what sort of info can you read live? I want to record as many parameters as possible via a obd2 socket so it can be overlayed onto a video

I know Torque is not up to much but...

//edit sorry didn't see your comment about Volvo reader

Maybe that means Torque doesn;t work? Maybe Motronic suite can be used somehow...http://socalsaab.com/suites/suites.htm
