Hi guys, Im posting this on behalf of my father who has a 1999 V70 T5.
He bought the car brand new in 98-99 and the car has been faultless until he decided to lpg it about 5 years ago, running problems etc. It turned out that the guys who fitted the lpg had fitted the lpg ecu in the same box as the cars ecu, and by doing this somehow dislodged the cars ecu resulting in it overheating and frying the connecting pins. they took out the lpg in the end. A replacement ecu was ordered and the car has been fine ever since, 3-4 years driving. until now!
He's complaining that sometimes when you drive the car, stop somewhere, jump back in and want to go again, the car wont start, ignition on, all dash lights go on and off as they should, it turns over but wont fire. Sometimes no lights come on the dash, then he leaves the car for 10-20 mins, and poof! it works fine again! its truly a mystery.
We've had a auto electrician look at her, he's had the car for the past month and has gone through everything he can think of. Fuel pumps, fuses, bad earths, crank sensors, maf's, and a load of other checks i cant remember. No faults/codes come up on his computer.
Can anyone on here suggest anything else that maybe the auto leccy guy missed? What are the chances of the replacement ECU being faulty after 3-4 years of faultless driving?
As you can imagine, the car holds a great sentimental value to him and the last thing he wants to do is have to sell it as a spares/repairs. But we are running out of options/ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it :(
